Mohamad Yunus, Grameen Bank and Nobel Peace prize

First hats off to him. But shouldn't he get a Nobel prize for Economics or rather Micro-Economics rather than Peace. Not that it really matters. Even being nominated for a Nobel prize is apparently such a great honor in itself. Grameen bank might be new to millions of westerners but the concept has been there in Bangladesh for a long time now. It's based on a simple assumption that common people just want to live a decent life and if you provide them with the required loan at an acceptable rate then they will be more than happy to pay for it.

Day before yesterday when I read the possible nominations Mohamad Yunus did not even figure in the possible nominees. There was the Finnish President or PM who worked on Indonesia's peace deal with Aceh province and then there were others. Now Nobel committee never releases the names of those nominated to any of the prizes either. So it's all a guess work.

Heartfelt congratulations to Mohamad Yunus, his creation and his millions of customers who made this possible.
