Donation dacoity at Safeway

Today I was shopping in Safeway and my bill came to $7.19. The cashier while ringing me up asked whether I would like to donate 81c to Breast-Cancer research. What do they expect me to say ? No ? Infront of 20 other customers standing there ? This is a new way of donation dacoity. Already life in US is so full of donations,
1. there's the fire and police department donation that comes to your house
2. there's the UnitedWay campaign in the office
3. there's usually the cookie donation in the local school
not to mention the boy scouts and such like that.

Now this is a new way of making people donate and I don't know why they have to resort to this. In order to avoid this I would rather avoid Safeway and take my business elsewhere instead of saying No to their "Do you want to donate....." question.
